This election designates Ms. Ciraolo as one of approximately 700 tax lawyers who are currently Fellows of the College. Ms. Ciraolo was nominated for this election based on her exceptional degree of professional commitment to the practice of law in the area of tax and tax-related maters as well as her significant involvement with the Tax Section of the American Bar Association.

Rosenberg | Martin | Greenberg, LLP is proud to announce that Caroline D. Ciraolo is one of only two lawyers in the country that received the American Bar Association Section of Taxation's Janet R. Spragens Pro Bono Award at the ABA Section of Taxation's Midyear meeting in San Antono, Texas on January 23rd. Ms. Ciraolo was chosen to receive this award for her outstanding and sustained commitment to pro bono legal services, particularly with respect to federal and state tax law. Ms. Ciraolo helped found the U.S. Tax Court Pro Bono Program in Maryland, she serves on the board of directors and volunteers with Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service, participates in the Maryland Low Income Taxpayer Return Preparation Clinics and instructs and mentors students at the UM and UB law school tax clinics. The Maryland State Bar Association, Inc., Section of Young Lawyers, has presented Melody Tagliaferri Cronin, an associate in the firm's litigation department, with the 2008-2009 Distinguished Service Award. The award was given to Ms. Tagliaferri Cronin for her contribution to the MSBA's Section of Young Lawyers for her role as Chair of the Wills for Heroes Program in Maryland. Wills for Heroes is a national organization which provides basic estate planning documents to emergency personnel. It was founded because of the many 9/11 first responders who died without having wills in place. In addition to her significant role in the founding of the Wills for Heroes affiliate in Maryland, Ms. Tagliaferri Cronin recruited other attorneys to draft templates of estate planning documents and then organized the group's first event in Montgomery County where several volunteer lawyers drafted estate planning documents for thirty first responders. Upcoming events are now being scheduled in other Maryland counties.

Rosenberg | Martin | Greenberg was selected to receive a Pacesetters Award from the Legal Aid Bureau's Equal Justice Council. The award, which was presented at the Legal Aid Bureau's 12th Annual Recognition Breakfast on Thursday, May 21st, was given to recognize the firm's leadership and sustaining efforts in support of Legal Aid.

We are pleased to announce that Caroline D. Ciraolo from the firm's tax controversy group is the recipient of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service Educator Award for 2008. Caroline was honored with this award for the time she spent over the last two years as an instructor, training volunteers to represent low income taxpayers who have disputes with the IRS. Ms. Ciraolo was recognized at the MVLS' annual Recognition Reception on September 17th. The firm also received an MVLS Corporate Leadership Award at this event for it's continued support of the MVLS and it's programs.

Benjamin Rosenberg has been selected to receive the Champion of Justice Award from the Legal Aid Bureau's Equal Justice Council.
