In October 2009 Benjamin Rosenberg assumed a new leadership role as Co-Chair of the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau’s Equal Justice Council. Serving in his capacity of Co-Chair of the EJC, Mr. Rosenberg participated in the October 7th Managing Partners Breakfast that focused on the increased demand for EJC’s legal services from growing populations of newly unemployed residents and those experiencing related crises as a result of the economy. On October 9, 2009 RMG sponsored a community service event benefiting Civic Works, an organization with a mission to build a future for Baltimore's youth through community service and skills development. In addition to being a sponsor of the event, the firm had a team of volunteers consisting of employees and employee family members that helped beautify the REACH School located next to Clifton Park. Rosenberg | Martin | Greenberg, LLP was one of thireteen law firms and legal agencies that participated in the 2009 Summer Law Links Student Internship Program co-sponsored by the Maryland State Bar, the Baltimore City Public Schools and the Citizenship Law-Related Education Program (CLREP). The Law Links program provides summer employment for inner-city high school students. The students' employment in law firms throughout the city provides them with an opportunity to learn more about the professional world, the legal system and personal interactions in a business environment.

Ciraolo, Stanley Fine, Newt Fowler and Cynthia Spell will be recognized in the November Issue of Smart CEO Magazine for being seen as the go-to business attorneys in Baltimore by the magazine's 15,000 readers.
RMG is pleased to announce that Julian Lee joined the firm's tax department in August 2009. Mr. Lee’s practice focus is representation of individuals and businesses throughout all stages of federal and state tax controversies. He is a graduate of Emory University and earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as an editorial board member of the Moot Court Honor Society. Mr. Lee received his LL.M in Taxation with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lee was an assistant general counsel with Silver Starr Art Studios, LLC, responsible for providing business and tax advice to emerging artists. He also worked for an international accounting firm, where he performed tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Lee is admitted to practice in the State of New York, and will be sitting for the Maryland Bar Exam in February.

RMG is pleased to announce that Michael C. Hardy joined the firm's business transactions group in May 2009 after spending the past three years at DLA Piper US LLP. Mr. Hardy is a graduate of Towson University and Vanderbilt University Law School. His practice includes a wide range of matters affecting businesses, including corporate, commercial contract, intellectual property, M&A and financings. Mr. Hardy is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Rosenberg | Martin | Greenberg received a Pacesetters Award from the Legal Aid Bureau's Equal Justice Council. The award, which was presented at the Legal Aid Bureau's 12th Annual Recognition Breakfast on Thursday, May 21st, was given to recognize the firm's leadership and sustaining efforts in support of Legal Aid.
Caroline D. Ciraolo was elected to the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS) Board of Directors at its February Board Meeting. The MVLS is a nonprofit organization that provides free and reduced-fee legal assistance to low-income people throughout Maryland. Click here for the full press release.
David M. Wyand was elected to Helping Up Mission, Inc.'s Board of Directors at its January Board Meeting. Helping Up Mission is one of Baltimore's oldest and largest non-profit institutions, providing hope and help to the poor, the homeless and those recovering from addiction.
Melody Tagliaferri-Cronin is Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section “Wills for Heroes” Program. Wills for Heroes is a national organization founded to provide basic estate planning documents to first responders. The Foundation was started in response to 9/11 because many of the first responders that died did not have wills in place. Stuart R. Rombro, an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore in the Master of Taxation program, will be teaching the Partnership Taxation course in the Fall 2009 semester. In addition, Andrew H. Baida is also an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore and University of Maryland Schools of Law where he teaches Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy.

We are pleased to announce that three highly-regarded attorneys have joined the firm effective January 1, 2009. The addition of partners Louis J. Ebert and William L. Hallam and associate Bob Van Galoubandi will expand RMG’s commercial practice and provide clients with greater breadth and depth in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters. All three attorneys are principally located in the firm’s headquarters at 25 South Charles Street in Baltimore and serve clients throughout the entire mid-Atlantic region. We are pleased to announce that Brian J. Crepeau joined the firm's tax controversy group in September 2008. Brian concentrates on federal and state tax controversies and litigation for individuals, small businesses and corporate taxpayers. He has represented large corporations in complex audits and has served as a litigation consultant to international law firms on money laundering, accounting and securities fraud. Mr. Crepeau is a Certified Public Accountant and is particularly skilled in cases involving accounting practice and procedures and accounting fraud. Mr. Crepeau earned his J.D. from the American University – Washington College of Law.
We are pleased to announce that Melody Tagliaferri-Cronin joined the firm's litigation group in September 2008. Melody's practice entails all aspects of civil litigation. Ms. Tagliaferri Cronin is a graduate of New York University and a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was a staff writer on the Cardozo Public Law, Policy, and Ethics Journal. She served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Albert J. Matricciani, Jr., during his tenure as a judge of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. She is admitted to practice in the State of Maryland.
On October 4th RMG sponsored a community service event benefiting Civic Works, an organization with a mission to build a future for Baltimore's youth through community service and skills development. In addition to sponsoring the event, the firm had a team of 20 volunteers consisting of employees and employee family members that helped beautify 1600 and 1700 blocks of 33rd Street in Clifton Park by installing new address plaques, painting porches, trimming bushes, trees and improving the overall curb-appeal of the area. Susan Roberto-Saidi, an associate of RMG, serves on the Civic Works Board of Directors.
At the 2008 Maryland State Bar Association's Annual Convention Hilary J. O'Connor was elected Chair of the MSBA's Real Property Section. for the 2008-2009 year.
In June 2008 Patrick M. Martyn was appointed by the Maryland State Bar Association to serve on the Commission to Study the Title Insurance Industry in Maryland. This Commission was established by legislation (Senate Bill 61/House BIll 600) passed by the Maryland legislature during the most recent legislative session. The purpose of the Commission is to study the title insurance industry in Maryland and make recommendations for changes to State laws relating to the title insurance industry. The Commission is to report its findings by December 2009.
In June, 2008, Caroline D. Ciraolo was elected to serve as Chair of the Taxation Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association for a one-year term commencing on July 1, 2008.
We are pleased to announce that in July 2008 Brian Cyr joined Rosenberg | Martin | Greenberg, LLP as of counsel, practicing in the areas of Corporate and Securities, Mergers and Acquisitions, Emerging Growth and Venture Capital, Technology and Sourcing, Life Sciences and Electronic Commerce and Privacy. Mr. Cyr joins us after having been most recently associated with DLA Piper.
Mr. Cyr represents companies in a variety of business and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, technology-related transactions and intellectual property acquisition, development and licensing. He also has experience with data privacy and information security.
After several years with a DLA Piper-predecessor firm following a judicial clerkship, Mr. Cyr left private practice to take an in-house counsel position with a venture-backed technology company. He ultimately held the positions of general counsel, vice president for legal and business affairs and corporate secretary. In those roles, Mr. Cyr oversaw all legal matters, the legal and human resources departments and certain corporate matters. Mr. Cyr additionally counseled employees on intellectual property protection efforts and privacy matters.
Mr. Cyr returned to private practice in 2006 and, in addition to transaction-based representation, provides outside general corporate counsel representation to companies, including those in the information technology and life sciences industries.
RMG is pleased to announce that Benjamin Rosenberg is a recipient of this year’s Champion of Justice Award from the Legal Aid Bureau’s Equal Justice Council. Rosenberg was honored at the Equal Justice Council’s Annual Recognition Breakfast on Thursday, May 22.
Mr. Rosenberg has served the Equal Justice Council for the past five years by garnering support for the organization among his vast contacts and colleagues within Baltimore’s legal community. The award recognizes Ben’s energy, enthusiasm and steadfast commitment to the mission of the Legal Aid Bureau. The Equal Justice Council was formed by the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau to promote equal justice by increasing and diversifying the organization’s resources, serving as its advocates and ambassadors, and educating the public about the programs offered by the Legal Aid Bureau.

In March, 2007, Caroline D. Ciraolo was appointed by Thomson West to its Tax Advisory Board. The Board's participation is limited to a select group of people with a prestigious reputation in the field of tax law. Board members serve as an advisory panel to Thomson West with respect to tax products and information for tax professionals.
